I have never heard of this comic before.
This is the first time of me hearing this comic.
It certainly has not been around since I was in Middle School.
Not at all.

Well, let's just say that I've had nightmares about this character.
...
...
...
Here it comes...
...and I've NEVER even read the comic. Jhonen Vasques is like some sort of genius, but he looks like the art geek I used to beet up in high school.

Okay I've read it, and I'll admit that I read it only because of it's growing popularity. While I can say that I quite enjoy the main storyline and about 3 of the meanwhiles, I hate the rest of it. Happy Noodle Boy is quite possibly the stupidest thing in that whole series, but then again I hate random humor like that for the most part.

Squee kicks ass.
And I remember reading these comics back when I was 9. Good times =3

I should read these again.
Currently they are collecting dust in my closet.

Totally. It must have just come out. No one knew of this comic when I was 5. No one at all.
I never read any of them. I need to buy them some time. D:

I... don't believe he asked if you'd heard of it. Unlike the guy who made the Calvin and Hobbes thread a long while back... why the fuck do I remember such useless things D:
I love all these comics, I have Squee, JTHM, Lenore, I feel Sick, and many others in my closet =P.

Unlike lots of people, I am not a huge Jhonen Vasquez fan. I <3 Invader Zim, but that's about it.

Pretty much. One of the major subplots was that you shouldn't worship Nny.

Yeah, ever see two people fight over a directors cut at a bookstore because it's the last copy and "they are the bigger fan"
Squee was enjoyable to read, JTHM got dull real quick and I just stopped paying for JV's stuff after Squee.

Invader Zim was the best thing on Nick ever, but I would never buy anything from it.
Oh I still have to find Squee. I've read it but I've never been able to find and buy it.

so true... I didn't know that other people knew about JTHM until a while after I the comics myself. I have yet to read any of JV's other stuff but I have a few zim dvds.

Oh I've read this at school before too. I didn't get so much as "Wow you're a psycho" as a "Can I borrow that when your done?".
EDIT: Wobbly Headed Bob is the second worst thing in those comics ever.

I guess the psycho label thing is a a bit of an over statement and I don't care much for wobbly headed bob either. I preffer happy the happy noodle boy comics and the main comic.

And much like anime, JV's art style has undreds of piss-poor imitators.

I gained interest in JTHM back in 9th grade, when my friend Justin would show me pictures he'd gathered from the internet. Then when I saw Invader Zim, I ended up buying the JTHM Director's Cut. It was great.
Anyone read Fillerbunny? That be some funny shit thar.

Well, in 9th grade without my knowledge someone took my zombie survival guide book out of my backpack and switched it with the big JtHM volume, with every comic deal. I wondered why my back hurt more then it normally did.
Now I don't know what the best weapon to use against zombies is ;_;

Hhm... the re-read these the other day after not touching them for 4 years.
I remember I bought these when I was... ten, I think. Maybe eleven.
I lke the Taco Smell, the MP3 player and Heaven and Hell stories the best. :\

Aye, that I did. I loved the ending of the last one. The second-to-last-page had me ovwewhelmed with an awsome euphoric feeling and the final page had confirmed every suspiction I had before it.
My favorite line from anythng JV did:
"I have powers PINTO BEANS can only dreams of!"

Necroing this here thread.
I loved this comic personally. It had a pretty good plot, lovely dialouge, and was just simply entertaining. I do think that the seventh issue was unnecessary, though. Also, less filler. Wobbly headed bob and noodle boy get old fast.
His art style was fun, too. Works well in black and white.
Haven't read it?

And since JTHM and Zim are already godly, that makes Squee some sort of über-god.

I'm I the only one sick of all the shitty random humor this idiot spawned after making JTHM and Zim? Everyone fucking loves it for some stupid reason and are constantly raping my ears with it.
Seriously, "A ROOM WITH A MOOSE" and "HELLSPAWN PIGGIES" was funny maybe once.
When I was twelve.

I'm just fucking sick of it, every emo/nerd at my fucking school won't shut up about it, and it isn't even goddamn funny. There is no real element of humor in it other than "LOL RANDOM CUTSY MIXED WITH DARK IMAGES AND FUNNY SOUNDING WORDS". Seriously, I could gargle shit and the noises that come out of my mouth would be more entertaining.

So because people you don't like act stupidly, you hate something that they like? Good reason, I guess. Some people find it funny for reasons that you're missing, and we DO shut up about it.

Squee had alot less of that stupid random humor and seemed to flow the best of anything he's done. True some of it was still in there, but not in the main story or the Meanwhiles, which is the main things I'm interested in reading, so I found Squee very enjoyable.
Lenore is still better though, no random humor, it's just everything is pretty much disconnected and there's very little permanent changes.

I was a fan for about a week, read Squee first, and then JTHM.
Got bored of it VERY quickly. too much psuedo intellectualism when it rarely dipped out of "lol random" that and the whole angry at the world goth who is misunderstood, dancing on the line between genius and insanity, is so far beyond cliche its very painful.
that said, I did enjoy it once, so I cant slam it. But I'd never read it again, and I couldnt watch Zim, at that point jhonens one note humour just grated. [I read squee when it came out, around 2000] fun note: the who voiced GIR [Rosearik Rikki Simons] is an established comic artist/graphic novellist, whose works are actually really good. He runs a company called Studio Tavicat with his wife.

[And back to vasquez. 90% of his fanbase are irritating beyond human comprehension, sorry if you think I'm generalising guys, but I'm not, I speak from personal experience in both social and cartoonists/artists communities.]

Haha, good job twisting my words around and completely missing my point. : D
I said it was hardly funny when I watched it/read it at all, and it bugs the fuck out of me when the idiot fanfucks won't shut up about "LOL PIGGIES MOOSE PIGEON", which you may not be like, but the majority of the fanbase is.

Ok, that is true... that's not funny. Contextually, Happy Noodle Boy is awesome for a certain kind of sense of humor... apparently mine, and those douches in your school. Relax.

JTHM wasn't full of the random shit that Zim was. Although it wasn't the best thing ever or anything, I do have to say I enjoyed it for the reasons I mentioned before.

I enjoyed it. Relatively straight forward comic. About the perfect length. A lot of the scenarios I related to a good deal. The wacky thing, for instance. A journey of self-discovery laced with a lot of violent insanity. I don't remember the "lol random" crap very much.

Yeah, funny when I first read it. Tried reading it again, got to the second issue....haven't touched it again. Not much staying power.
Squee is still awsome though.

I read the Directors Cut thing, and I found it kind of cool, but it's not something I would buy ( I borrowed the copy I read from a friend). I think it's pretty overrated.

I think it's humor is overrated. When it's being serious it actually gets pretty good.
