one of the most fantastic movies I have ever seen.

bought quite awhile ago on dvd, well over a year now, cant remember exactly how long ago.
but I just stuck it into the dvd player again and have been reminded once again of its pure genius and beauty

thats an english trailer for it.

you should be able to get it at a virgin or hmv store for cheap.
the korean dvd has english subtitles

basis:
the entire basis of the story is that this man, going about his daily life gets kidnapped and locked into a room for 15 years, no explanation nothing.
for the entire 15 years he has no company, never sees anyone except for his tv.
then just as he's about to break out, he gets released with ALOT of money and he tries to find out why.

Bravo had this on their list of 30 best horror movies not too long ago.

It looked pretty wicked.

Everyone I know gave this movie rave reviews. At first I thought it was nothing but baseless hype ( like Borat ) but I will check it out and hopefully be suprised ( like Borat ).

Oh god this movie is great. Totally recommend it to anyone.

Didn't it have sequels or something of the sort? Sympathy for Lady Vengeance and something else I think.

Not to sound like one of those lame "nerds" but the manga is far better. The movie is still awesome though.

It was the second film in Chan Wook Park's Revenge trilogy. None of the films have anything in common except that the central theme of each film is revenge and how it changes a person. I actually prefer the first film, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. It was brutal and really showed how much vengeance can twist a person's soul. Oldboy was more like a grand opera and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance was a little bit more surreal. All three of the films are beautifully shot. I love the way Park uses color in his films.

Also if you liked those you should definately check out his earlier film J.S.A.
