Wait a minute...

"Electronics stores in Japan have sold out of PlayStation 3 consoles after thousands of gamers queued for hours in the cold to buy them."
EDIT: Oh wait. Still lottery :(

Nah, just some Sony propaganda.
Edit: Yup. Still lines, though.

Yes, you all have heard right, sony ps3 has sold out in Japan. I repeat, all 3 ps3 were sold out! People were reported to be jumping for joy while others sneered at the lucky ones. On a side note, ebay reports three new ps3 auctions available.

Wow, people are really looking forward to their Wiis. Lets just hope the actual wii functionality is as good as the public's anticipation for it. If so, Wii might be very strong competition against PS3. Things for PS3 seem to, in contrast, not always go according to plan...I can't wait to see how much Wii is sold on launch say (probably all of it).

A lot of these things are misleading, Kotaku has some decent coverage of all the lines. The lines at Yodobashi Camera in Osaka were HUGE, notice also that the article on IGN is 2 days old

Kotaku is insanely anti-Sony. Then again, what isn't these days.
So, Japanese stores are using a lottery system to sell their limited numbers? If anything, this gives the people at the back of the line a fair chance of getting one.

I will say one thing, that IS one hell of a slick display for the PS3.
So either this is the situation in Scott's comic, or the PS3 actually had a weak Japan release.
Either are good for it, but the latter would be tragic for sony.

They did kinda snuff Japan on release. But I don't think they'll care too much when most, if not ALL, the ps3s sell out in North America.
ISn't Sony ALOT more popular in Japan? And I still think the price tag is scaring away the casual fanbase, which seemed like alot of the fanbase to me. Every Sony fan I've met in person (except for 1) since the PS3 was announce said they wouldn't get it at that price.

Sony is insanely popular everywhere. Even in Europe. Though right now Nintendo is top dog in Japan.

Nah, just some Sony propaganda.
Sony... wha?
What's so hard to believe that people actually WANTED the system and waited in line for one?
