Best Christmas Ever

So, as some of you may know, my dad recently lost his job. He was unceremoniously dismissed without pay the day before his wages were due, when the company went into liquidation. (The company he worked for, Radix, is in fact owned by an american company for which business is booming. The entire english branch has basically just been butchered and sold off as part of a cynical accounting ploy.)

This basically meant that we were stuck with him trying to find another job in the same field during the Christmas season (he's over 50, might I add, making it even harder), while my mum was thankfully still working. We have mortgage insurance for 12 months, but if he works for over 15 hours a week (no matter how much the pay is), its gone.

Two weeks ago, they decided to cut down my mum's branch of her company to 4 members from 7.
Today, my dad picked me up from College and informed me that my mum has now lost her job as well.

Ironically, my dad got fired the day after they agreed to get me a 360, and my mum got fired just after I decided a half-decent £30 router would be great instead.
I mean, even I have to admit theres a certain black hilarity in that.

Aww, dude, that's terrible. I'm really sorry to hear it. =(

I wish I had the ability to do something to fix this, but I guess it's all up to your parents. I mean, I'm sure they'll be able to get back up on their feet, but I know it's not going to be easy in the meantime. That said, holidays shouldn't really be about getting gifts, but it's also really lousy to have to deal with heavy stress either.

Still, I'm sure you guys can still have a good time! Nothing is stopping you from having a nice dinner and spend some time with your family and friends, right? I really do hope that you'll have a great christmas. In fact, I'd take it up on yourself to make sure it's a great one despite the lack of big gifts.

Sorry if I'm sounding grossly optimistic, but a lot of having a good holiday lies in your attitude about this, and you can turn things for the better, I'm sure! So, I wish you the best of luck and an awesome christman. You deserve it. =3


On a side note: what the heck is with the guys who dismissed your dad without paying him? Isn't that stealing and completely illegal?
