I've only heard good news about this movie. Even though alot of people are like "omg mel gibson made Passion of the Christ, now I won't see any of his films" he's still a great director and actor. I really want to see this, so maybe I will this weekend.
Opinions?

I never knew the Aztecs hated the Jews too.
Seriously, I doubt I'll be seeing this movie, not because it's filmed in a language I've never heard before, but that it may be a bit too graphic for my tastes.

Mayans, Adcon. 'Tis the Mayans in this movie, or at least their dialect.
I've got a friend who's of Mayan descent, so he's mandated that we see this movie. Even besides that, my interest is piqued, so it's worth a shot.

My freind has seen the movie and from what hes told me it was really graphic. Theres alot of those sacrificial, cut open the chest and pull out the heart while its still beating rituals :yikes: . Personaly, I do tend to enjoy the odd gore-fest every now and then, so I might see it.

You know, I don't recall the Mayans ever doing that.

Really? It was eather the Mayans or Aztecs, but it one of the things they are famouse for. It was some really epic religious ceremony. Thousand of people would clime up the pyramid and die in the name of something or other. But then Hernando Cortez had to be a dick and change all that.

Mel Gibson lost any credibility he might have received as Riggs after Passion of the Christ and his more recent little drunken driving outburst against jews. Seriously Mel, what happened? Why is it all the cool actors (Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise) turn out to be such losers in real life? Anyways, only way I'll be seeing this is if I download it free, and even then...

Because it's totally unheard of people to say/do things they don't mean when they're drunk.
But lets not turn this into a Mel Gibson arguement.

It looks okay... but i'll wait and see it on dvd.

I say that I'll see it myself and draw my own opinion. Different people have different standards.
As to Mel, judge the movie based on its merits, not his.

Yeah, can't really see why you can play Gears of war but not see gory movies... oh well!
Anyhoo, this film's looks interesting, and I've been following it's tracks since it's been announced last year or so, I'll definitely will go see it

the thing is that Gears is computer generated graphics and NOT live action. I think I'll pass on this movie myself since i prefer less gorey movies.

You do realise the gore there is fake, too, right?

If this film is about the Mayans, it's so painfully inaccurate that I can't bring my psycho history-stickler self to see it. They just left kids in the mountains to freeze, no brutal heart-carvery there.
If it's about the Aztecs, then meh.

I may have been hasty in saying that it's about the Mayans. I could be wrong about that. I know for certain that the dialogue is in a Mayan dialect, however.

What does gaming have to do with gore? I've never spent more time beating a 12yr old with a bat then in smash bros and no blood and brain matter flops out of Ness' head. I don't like drawing conclusions before I see it, which I probably will since my dad's favorite movie is "at play in the fields of the lord," but it's probably going to do the same thing passion did. That being make me squirm at such over the top scenes of violence I don't give 2 rat's asses about the story, rather I'm just praying for it to end.

Hurr hurr, praying for it to end, I see what you did there.

Gaming has... alot to do with gore, considering half of games are rated M.
Anyways, no point going off-topic.

I checked up on wiki, and it is said to be based on the Mayans.

Because you know, all gamers are the degraded fucks who constantly play M games so we now have orgasms whenever we see gore hurr de hurr hurrrrr
I play games all the fucking time and gore still fucking bothers me, hell, the internet has made me more immune to shit like that than video games ever did. Just because I see pixelated gore at times (which from I heard is absolutly nothing and is baby stuff in compairison to this film) don't mean it still doesn't fucking bother me.

yes, but the fake gore in the movie is live action fake gore, Gears is still computer graphics. if that makes sense.

Shut up about the gore, guys, this thread is about a blatantly inaccurate movie. Not all games are gory, we get it.

I saw it last night. It was actually, in my opinion, really good. The language they use (even though it's wrong or whatever, it doesn't matter to me) just seemed to flow with the movie. There wasn't big amounts of gore, and it had a very good story. The actors and actresses did a really good job, and I hope to see them in upcoming movies, because this was a good ticket to fame, from my perspective.
