Hell yes. I came in expecting a second view on a different zombie apocalypse or something, and I instead found an awesome sequel to the first movie.

I have to admit though, it was 1. not as long as the first and 2. contained much less actual plot than the first.

The first felt like a month's quest. This one felt more like an insignificant heartbeat in England's fight against the Rage.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed it very much. The characters were interesting and the plot twists, albeit simple, were entertaining.

Overall, I would have to give it A- for production, visual effects and entertainement, but a D+ for storyline and character development. The first was better, but I still think this one was worth my money.

Averaged: B-

I saw this tonight with minimal knowledge of the first.

It was the first horror movie I've seen since the original Ring.

Have horror movies really improved that much since 1999? God this movie was fucking awesome.

A-.

On the budgetty, simplistic, scarefest scale: 9/10

On the actual movie scale: 5-6/10

This review contains major spiolers, but to summarize the movie a crap and I fully regret paying for it.

God damn this movie was such a piece of crap. Obvious money grab by corporate high ups riding on the good name of 28 days later which brought an innovative, original story-telling of the zombie horror flick.

Things I hated about this movie (in order):
Writer - the basis of this could've been written by a 13 year old in 1 week for an english class assignment. There are way too many loops in this movie which create questions, like how some zombies seem to just magically get around and appear in unfortunate positions for the protagonists, and also how some ppl just magically have immunity to the disease because they have different colored eyes. Also: killing everybody? No thanks, you're not the Departed. The first movie had a happy ending, that's why it was so great. This movie has an ending which spells out, rather blatantly, that there WILL be a 3rd.
The Plot - ok, so we're going to repopulate London. Good idea. We're not letting kids into London yet because adults can take care of themselves better, ok, still good. We let some kids into London, and leave the roads unblocked enough that they can easily sneak by, ok well this is getting worse. We have a sniper see the kids, who tells his officer, but they aren't brought back right away and let run around the city for at least 20 minutes of movie time, ok well plots going down hill from there. Then we have a woman who has survived for, presumably, 28 weeks with the rage virus inside her but she doesn't realize she has it because apparently she's stupid, who then gets blood on her husband who magically escapes both snipers and machine guns, and a full-blown fire bombing of the city by many jets, and then proceeds to, amazingly, ambush the one kid in the entire world with this same, rare, genetic mutation so that he carries the virus again. There would've been at least a couple of million of people that died in the UK during the first movie, why isn't this immunity seen then? Plot is spelt F-A-I-L.
Director - go for the good shots, fool! I know that the directing and most of the writing were done by the same person, and that just makes it even worse because it shows the man has absolutely no vision. The fact that the director has only 3 or 4 movies under his belt also shows, this movie was supposed to be an amazing continuation of the first and flops because of the guys lack of experience. The directing leads me to my next person/thing on my list:
Cinematography - did you notice how many times they shook the camera around violently in 28 days later? NONE! 28 days later painted a very clear picture of what was going on in the movie at every point, but in the sequel the fricken director couldn't go 10 minutes without shaking the camera around violently recreating one of the stupidest, and cheesiest, b-movie camera tricks in the business. Not being able to see exactly what's going on in all the scenes might terrify some of you, but it sure as hell doesn't make for a good movie.
Lead Actors and their Characters - Kids. You know what kinda movies have kids as the lead actors? Kid's movies. This is not one of those. Get me someone I can connect with, show me love, passion, fear, greed, hatred, emotion, don't show me some stupid kid who can't follow advice from others, running around, getting lost, looking for his quite obviously dead and/or zombified mother and father.
Supporting Actors and their Characters - Take control, you idiots! How many of you had guns, 3 or 4? Use them. Oh wait, they're ordering bombing strikes on 15,000 people? What kind of stupid idea is that? Oh wait, nvm, I already mentioned the writers... But seriously, you know what killed off all the supporting actors? Not the zombies, it was that stupid little kid! Stay with your sister next time, retard!
