This is something we did months ago in English class, for something to improve our writing skills. I thought I'd share it, remembering it now.
OK, here's what you need to do. You need to write a short passage on a big occasion in your life, whether real or made up. It can be good (birth of a child, climbing a tree for the first time) or bad(funeral, father leaves family). There are only two rules.
1. It has to be EXACTLY 100 words. No more, no less.
2. You cannot say what it is directly. You have to just give clues so they can figure out what it is.
Here's what I did for the original assignment then. You should be able to figure out what it is.
Mom's voice. We had to go. Now. I was confused. I wondered what the problem was. We hurried to the car. Rain battered at the roof and windows. I was on edge, beside myself with dread. We reached the place. In the black night, we entered. A white, sterile room. I was scared. I tried to keep those awful thoughts I had out of my head. There was a movie in the lobby. I laughed... it helped distract me a little. A man took Mom away for a while. Then, he told us what happened.
That's when the world ended.
Happy writing, guys. Have fun.
