You guys are uncultured jerks.

You will now read this series.

One of the best books i've ever read.

ever

Written by George R.R. Martin, his series takes place in a original fantasy realm, but don't expect your magic missles and elves.

Magic plays a very low kery in this, most don't even believe it, and humans are as far as it goes.

The First book is 'A game of thrones'

go buy it

yes right now

I honestly cannot believe that there hasn't been a thread on this series yet. Good work!

This is easily one of the best fantasy series I've ever read. It has magic and dragons, but it's not so outright like most books. Much more behind-the-scenes and sinister. TONS of political intrigue, plenty of backstabbing and twists at every turn. And he doesn't hesitate to kill off major characters.

I'm just sick of waiting for the next book :(

edit: In my excitment over posting about this series, I didn't really read the whole first post, haha.

One of the best things I like about this series is that it starts to blur the lines between good and evil a little by putting you in the perspective of the characters from all sides of the fight, something fantasy generally avoids. This is especially true in the fourth one with the Jayme/Cersei (sp?) chapters.

Also, it's got zombies, dude. Go buy these damn books.

Ha ha, so true it's actually kind of sad. Otherwise, it is a pretty good series.
