I'm coming to a close on reading all the Warcraft books which are currently out, and I've come to find it has requenched my thrist for reading. I'm interested in reading The Chronicles of Narnia next.

I'm sure everyone has heard of the movies, but I'm more into the novels. I tried Googling 'The Chronicles of Narnia' but all that comes up are results for the movies. I went to Border.com and under that name they had over 200 books.

tl;dr
Is there anyone who has read the The Chronicles of Narnia who know what order the books are in? Were they any good?

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (1950)
Prince Caspian: The Return to Narnia (1951)
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (1952)
The Silver Chair (1953)
The Horse and His Boy (1954)
The Magician's Nephew (1955)
The Last Battle (1956)

EDIT: This is publication order. Wikipedia tells me that the books don't go in chronological order.

I read them all as a kid.

I just didn't realize The Magician's Nephew was written as a prequel to the series, I remember reading it first thinking it was actually book #1. I did enjoy them though, being too young at the time to notice the parallels to Christianity they were just entertaining Fantasy adventures.

I read them in chronological order, made more sense to me. Some people think it was meant to be read in the publishers order, I dunno.

I read them as a kid and liked them.

Then I found out they were all "jesus is a lion" and lost interest.
I didn't care for the movies either.

Magicians nephew was the first I read and the most clever to me.

Read these as a kid. Liked them. Funny how it was after I saw the movies that I read on the internet that the lion was depicted as Jesus. It never dawned on me before and I don't care.

Makes me laugh at people who make an issue about it.

I mostly saw him as a god... of sorts.

The order C.S. Lewis wanted them read in is as follows

The Magician's Nephew
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
The Horse and His Boy
Prince Caspian
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
The Silver Chair
The Last Battle

Why he didn't just WRITE them in that order, I don't know.

I fucking love these books. It does kind of piss me off though when people start snickering and going all "You know ASLAN'S an alanogy for JESUS and the books are SUPER DUPER CHRISTIAN, right?". Yeah, fuck you, they're good stories.

Hah, yeah I know all about the analogies and such, seeing as C.S. Lewis was a HUGE Christian writer.

Thanks for the info guys! I'm going to go out and pick up the books once I'm done with the War of the Ancients trilogy.

I don't understand how some have a problem with the Christian symbolism. It's a fun series with likable characters.

Plus, when you get neat battle scenes like this (http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=KECLMhLRsac), who cares if the lion is or is not based on Jesus? I mean, really.

Really I got up to the Silver Chair before getting bored with the series. Maybe I'll get back to it some day.

Also the Christian analogies didn't bug one one iota.

For fans of this series, you may like to hear that Disney has dropped Narnia. So either a new Distributor will pick it up and do a better job.. or there will be no more Narnia movies.

Pretty cool.

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was an awesome movie, but Prince Caspian was just god awful. I've been hoping they DON'T make any more because I know they'd just get progressively worse after That disappointment.

Voyage of the Dawn Treader is set to release in December of this year. It was supposed to release last year, but someone picked it up. (I didn't investigate who did though) I'm actually excited about this one. Hopefully they'll make a movie based on A Horse and His Boy.
