Welcome to the Six Trillion Project. This study, funded by private companies, is pursuing the creation of the ultimate part-man, part-machine. From nano-enhanced blood cells, to completely robotic limbs, hundreds have been “recruited” and “modified” by the top scientists of Six Corps. Although the program has been going swimmingly, some suspect foul play after several cyborgs go missing during a test...

Name:
Gender and age:
Faction: (There are currently three factions: Six Corps. workers, who manage the project, and do whatever else the Board of Directors may ask of them, and Cyborgs, who are the people who have been modified by Six. There are also the UN peacekeepers, who are investigating Six Corps and their suspicious actions, most notably "Project Apocalypse". The most recent faction to pop up are the employees of Rivertech, a rival of Six Corps who also produce war robots. They and Six have a long history of spying on each other, as long as other shady "business practices". New sides may come up later.)
Appearance:
Modified parts: (Only applicable to cyborgs.)
Back story:

New players are always welcome, if you need any help with the storyline, just ask, and you'll be given any help you need and an opening for an entrance. Oh, and with all the factions popping up and things happening all over the place, you are permitted to control a couple of minor characters, and make a more than one main character.

Plot Synopsis
Six Corps. Board member Peter Chandler and ex-soldier, current Six Trillion volunteer Peter Zanovich have been assigned to take a Project Apocalypse, an autonomous machine which has perfectly mimicked the form of a human, on a test run. During the test, the team was captured by the UN Peacekeepers, although they were able to escape the rooms they were kept in. After gathering outside the complex's parking garage with an old accomplice of Chandler's, Guram Osadze, the group was accosted by a team deployed by rival company Rivertech. In the ensuing gunfight, Chandler was shot by a man identified only as Unit 1. A peacekeeper named Eric Price, along with two teammates, helped the Six team escape to a hospital. The Rivertech team let them go, instead taking the opportunity to destroy the UN building and frame Chandler and Price for the murder of a Six Corps board member. The peacekeepers and Six team saw a news report on this, after Chandler revealed his and Guram's past with Six (http://forum.vgcats.com/showthread.php?p=346102&highlight=Billion#post346102). With the local authorities alerted and Apocalypse having taken the opportunity to get away from the group, they split up to escape the authorities. Guram and peacekeepers Greeson and Carlson took the sewers to Guram's van, where they stocked up on weaponry, while Price and Chandler jumped across roofs to the library Apocalypse escaped to. Here, they broke in on Rivertech agent Helios' interrogation of Apocalypse, who ran away. Price left in pursuit of Apocalypse, Chandler following after when Rivertech agent Marcus Harris arrived on the scene. Price and Chandler are now trying to make their way back to the others, with Harris' accomplice Will in pursuit, as Apocalypse got captured by her creator, Mark Stone, while trying to recharge. The UN finally responded to the destruction of their headquarters by deploying helicopters to find the group of fugitives. These they managed to avoid. Stone and Apocalypse were attacked by Helios, who left Stone and kidnapped Apocalypse. The fugitives managed to save Stone and rescue Apocalypse from Helios, however, taking the plane Stone took to escape to the Ukraine. Stone was dropped off at England.
[Warning: The storyline of Six Trillion is very, very complex. It is highly suggested you read over the whole thing. I recognize that some people won't have the time, which is why I provide this summary-Just don't be surprised when something/someone you missed is referred to.]

Name: Project Apocalypse
Age:unknown. Appears 20
Gender: Unknown. Appears a human female
Faction: Cyborgs
Appearance: Has the form of a 20 yera old human girl. However the only clolour it posseses is blue. Its skin is light blue, hair very dark blue and such. It has n other colours, only different tones of blue.
Modification: After the technologal booms and findings of very advanced technology from space and such, the military wanted a new kind of super weapon. However they couldnt make it themselves, there would be too much opposition to it. So they secretly funded and aided the six trillion to do so.
Combined with the most modern human technology and salvaged other advanced technologies, they managed to develope something called a semi biological machine. This new thing was like the top of the range super computer that the military used. But it had something much more impressive than that, it could learn and grow. This meant unlimited possibilities for this machine, it could become a computer, learning to hack and control anything day by day. Or a war machine capable of rendering all other electronic equipments on the field useless. Every bit of it is artificial, but it is very similar to the organisms, it doesnt have physical components such as cpus within it, each of its cells is like a highly sophsticated machine.
Background: It started to begin as just a hovering blue sphrere, size of a fist. The researchers, who have been working on it for a very long time, modified it, taught it and kept upgrading it every day.
However soon disaster struck. One day it suddenly started to slow down whilst processing and such. Then it changed its form, very much resembling a human. They never commanded it to do so, this meant it was possibly developing a mind of its own. The scientists and the workers were terrified, if it didnt have to obey them, it could easily bring down a black out to any part of the world, or more likely, even worse. Many people demanded the Project Apocalypse to be terminated and disposed of, but the military who were funding it never allowed it, threatening to black mail and such if they dared to.
Currently it is in the deepest and the most secure area of the lab. With extreme security around it, if someone knew of its existance except for the military and the head of this organisation, it would mean doom. Not even the other projects and specimens knew about it. By now it had developed its own mind completely and is capable of talking, listening, seeing and basically what a normal human can do, but much better. It is contained in a large mechanical column, watched by many guards and scientists.

((Well, I guess that's all we're going to get for now.))

Peter walked briskly down to the lowest level of the complex. Four heavily armed guards blinked, surprised at the appearance of a Board member in the most unsafe part of the facility. He spoke into a microphone attached to the half-metre-thick blast door, and it opened abruptly. The second door, this time with a retinal scanner, behaved similarly. When he got to the third door with a fingerprint scanner, however, he signed a nearby guard to clear it for him. This was not unusual: Peter never allowed his hands to be scanned.

He stepped into the next chamber, and looked at the figure suspended in the middle.

"Hello, Apocalypse."

Peter was adjusting to hes new mechanical arm in re-hab (re-hap ?). Mowing it around a little. The finger joints seemed to work perfectly, watching the joints move as hes brains commanded the hand to do everything it had to do. Just like a normal hand whould act.

"Its pretty nice...but i still say organic is better !"
Peter said as he moved hes hand around and picked up a glass, and dropped it accidentally. Shattering it.

"Ah crap...Organic was better...way better !"
Peter said and made a international gesture towards the ceiling.

Project Apocalypse just blinked.
Then on the small screen in front of the column it read
'Hello Mr. Chandler.'
It liked having conversations with people, even though she didnt know many.
The huge mechanical column container prevented apocalypse from hacking or accessing any other kind of electrical equipment or escape.
Strangely enough, it didnt even think of escaping or such. It liked being in the container, she felt safe and she could talk to people she knew very well.
Its been 10 years since it started to develope its own conscience. 10 years ago almost 49 percent of the board wanted this thing terminated. Now they didnt mind at all, it just seemed like a harmless thing thats gonna follow every order just as long as you took care of it.

Peter leaned on the console in front of the pillar and looked back up at Apocalypse.

"Let me get down to brass tacks, Apocalypse - such an ominous name, hmm? You see, you're getting too expensive to house down here. 24/7 guards don't pay for themselves, and there are other... facilities that the Board wants moved down here.

"I've been sent down to tell you that you have a choice in what happens next. You can either be disassembled, cannibalized, and studied, or... you can go out for a field test."

It blinked again and actually looked sad.
It thought it was weak and was in no position to disobey any of their orders. But it clearly didnt know what it was capable of. The scientists knew this as well, thus using it to their advantage. They could boss it around everyday and it wouldnt argue back, but once it knew how strong it was... well it truly will be apocalypse.
There was a moment of silence.
Then on the monitor it read
'field test?'

"We send you out into the world as one of our cyborgs. The way you gather information, you surely know about our little Six Trillion project. It would be good for you to actually see some of the planet you want to know so much about."

Seeing the artificial lifeform's hurt expression, Peter sighed and rested his head in his hands.

"I don't like this any more than you do, Apocalypse. But since when did one man's opinion matter?" He straightened himself and started walking out of the room. "You'll have until tomorrow to decide. I only hope you're ready for whatever choice you make."

One of the scientists came to Peter
"Its gonna take at least 5 hours to disconnect it from the container safely. If its succesful, it wont be able to scan, hack or gather information whilst its out of the container until it gets out of the facility, making us safe. If theres an error, it accesses all our database, looks at what it can 'play' with and it will kill us all. We need more than a day to try and find out a safe method Peter."

Peter sighed and continued out. "Do what you can, I'll slow the rest of the Board for you. Besides, it'll take a little time to assemble the rest of her team."

He paused for one remark before the door closed behind him.

"And be sure to paint her over or something, a blue woman isn't the most inconspicuous thing around."

The scientist's name was Mark. His surname long forgotten by people, they just called him mark. Noone knows whether thats his real name or not.
He was the leading researcher in project Apocalypse, he knew its functions and potentials, also the secret potentials that the board didnt know about.
He gazed upon the column container. Apocalypse was lying down at the corner of it, its face buried in its knees. Probably crying.
He knew it was wrong to create scientific life now, especially one such dangerous as that. On his desk was a resignation form.
Once apocalypse got out into the world, something was bound to go wrong.
He walked up to the container and whispered
"Its gonna be alright Apocalypse, just don't so anything stupid..."

He sat back and downed his drink. This was going to be the longest day of his career, and life didn't look to be getting any better.

Meanwhile Apocalypse was thinking about its decision.
It didnt want to die, but the outside world would seem very odd place though, plus she didnt know what it would be like at all.
Only organisms that she saw were humans, she may have read about animals, plants and such through books, but she never saw them.

2 Guards came to get Peter from the ward.

"Whats happening ?"
Peter asked as he stood up.

"Come along."
The guard said and pointed Peter to the door.

"Okay...might want to tell me whats going on then ?"
Peter said and walked to the door.

"I think he will tell you."
The guard said.

Peter started walking as the guards showed the way.

Name:Jeff Burman
Gender and age:Male, 19
Faction:Cyborgs
Appearance:Metal right arm, civilian clothes, white hair, blue eyes
Modified parts:Right arm made out of a new superconductive lightweight titanium. The arm can be overheated to extreme temperatures and cooled to subzero temperatures. To top it off, the arm can do superhuman things like any advanced arm would. Also has nano enhanced blood cells that keep himself from being damaged by his own arm attacks. Only the repairmen and the head honchos of Six Corps know what his arm is made of.

Backstory:After losing his arm to a horrible meat grinder accident(which isn't really accidental, for some asshole punk did it)six years ago he was given to the Six Corps. They did their thing for six years and ended up with what Jeff is today. He isn't too happy about his enhancements and rather be like all the other kids and adults who suffer from missing limbs. He was also given an education at Six Corps.

Jeff was wasting his day in the halls of the lower levels, playing with anything he could find. He was getting closer to the room Apocolypse was in. "Life is so boring when school is finally over...", he said to no one. "What was my motivation for being here, anyway? Getting back at that kid who threw me into the meat grinder on that slaughterhouse field trip?"

"Pull up a seat, Peter. You're being called out for an escort."

One of the guards noticed Jeff nearing the doors. Just one of the younger cyborgs. Though they could get rebellious at times, they weren't any danger. He went back to his business, adjusting the rifle slung over his shoulder.

A blue girl.. how strange.. , he thought. I need to get out of here.

"Yes, sir."
"Chandler, I got word that we won't get Project Apocalypse out of here for about three days. Is this true?"
"It is, sir. We need to give our scientists enough time to make everything safe. We don't know how much Apocalypse would find out about our operations if she - it wasn't blocked from access to our systems."
"Fine, Chandler. Just assure me that you'll have it out by the end of the week."
"I will. Was that all you wanted to discuss?"
"Just one more thing: You're going to be part of its escort."
The stunned silence stretched on for a full minute.
"Sir, you know I can't do that."
"I know you're one of the few who can. Besides access to panic buttons, we need someone we can really trust down there to keep an eye on it. And you're the best for the job physically."
"I can't go back, sir, you don't understand. I promised myself..."
"Don't make promises you can't keep, Chandler. Now, you're going on this field test and that's final. If you'll excuse me, I have a company to run."

He hung up.
"Great," said Peter. "Just when I think I'm clear, they pull me back into this mess. Maybe I was never out in the first place."

Apocalypse was now in its dormant mode, completely unconcious, thanks to couple of emp nanobots the scientists managed to inject into its blood stream.
Whilst its sleeping they'll need to unconstruct the whole column and remove it from it safely.
So far 5/40 process have been completed, only 35 more programs to run before removing it. If it woke up during this without the scientists realizing, it could hack in and copy all the database of the compnay, or even worse, wipe out the whole database.
Apocalypse had managed to copy the whole structure of the human body, it had blood, bones and even organs, not that it needed them. All the scientists were looking at its xrays and blood analysis, surprisingly it had even copied the dna strands, only difference between it and real humans was that its dna and cells have been made out of a different material, also this thing was also a super computer at the same time. The scientists had hidden this secret from the board, it was the new age of science, it was a whole new species that they created. But the problem was that, it had the capability to classify humans obsolete.
A scientist came to Mark and whispered
"Dont you think its about time we told the board? If she goes into a civillian hospital or gets in the hands of the governm.."
"No. It'll teach us a lesson that playing God is wrong. We created it, we created life without meaning to. Now we fear that if it knows the truth, it'll render all of us useless. Its god's way of saying creating life with free will can be disastrous if we dont know the consequences."
The scientists looked at Apocalypse
"Well... Destroy all the files, but before that make a copy of each one and store it into apocalypse's database. Encrypt it and hide it, just in case. Plus when we get her out of the container, run all medical tests and such. I want to see how much she changed since 6 months ago."

Thats kind of what you'd call a remote control for Apocalypse. You can use it to hack places and such through her. Also it can get her unconcious or paralyzed. ((Fast forward to the action!))

Friday came and Peter was pacing nervously in front of the secure doors, that being the place where the team would meet up. He had changed from his normal business suit to a green jacket and pants, made out of a tough material Six had developed years ago. His hands, now gloved in black wool, were clenched into nervous fists. While there, he struck up a conversation with a nearby guard, leaning on the door to the broom closet sucking back coffee.

"Aren't you supposed to be on duty?"
"Oh, but I am. One of the cyborgs was creeping around down here and I chased him into this here closet. He's been living off the janitor's lunches, I suppose, but he's sure to come out sooner or later."

"Well, she'll be ready in 20 minutes precisely. Her new name.... I think I'll call her Artermis. I've had a liking for greek mythology and why not name my creation after a greek godess?"
He then hung up the phone with a smile.

Apocalypse, now known as artermis, now had white skin, blonde hair and blue eyes. It wasnt paint, but they did reprogramme her skin cells and such to change color and adapt. However the scientists didnt want the board and such from knowing that she was extremely human. So they decided to put her in a metallic protective suit, completely silver and was the size of one and a 1/4 average person. There would no way to look in the suit unless she disabled it and took it off.
The final process was getting Artermis used to the new suit, it did restrict her movement alot, but it offered bulletproofness and such. Plus it prevented her from performing unnecessary scans and hacks.

"Oh, don't worry. You'll have tons of fun together. You will be notified how early to report. Now, go ahead to your room, you'll need your rest after hanging out in there so long."

Then the security doors of Artemis' chamber opened.
Out came Mark, behind him was what seemed like somekind of a walking battle suit.
It was 180 cm tall and was of colour black. The armor was thick enough to block bullets and many attacks, also it had a hover pack on its back. It was similar to the battle suits the elite commandos used, except this one had no builtin weapons and this was designed for more safely.
Mark stood pleased and said to Peter.
"This is artermis"

Peter chuckled when he saw Apocalypse's new "toy". "Bravo, Mark, you've outdone yourself this time. Artemis, you wouldn't mind keeping that on safety while we're still indoors, right?"

He turned to Zanovich. "Artemis, your escort Peter. Peter, our charge, Artemis. We can get to know each other better on the walk to the hangar and our flight."

"We'll meet at hangar B at 10:00, alright?"

With this final comment, Peter left for his own office. His equipment was already packed, and Ms. Vonk was standing with the briefcase it was inside. "I can understand the first aid kit and rations, sir, but is it necessary to bring an LU-RA with you? What are you getting yourself into?"
"That's something I can't tell you, I'm afraid. I can only say that what happens after this field test will determine whether Six Corps sinks or swims."
"Sir..."

She looked around and saw all the planes and computers around her, she always was curious about how things were programmed and reprogramm them to their best efficiency, but since the scietists told her not to touch anything, she just stood and waited.

Peter walked in with a rather large attache suitcase. Even though it was a big piece of baggage, he carried it with relative ease. Its contents must have been light. He turned to Apocalypse and whispered, "Once you're out of the complex, feel free to hack whatever you like, but I can't guarantee you'll like any of it. This test is going to push us all to our limits, some more than others. I only hope we can all handle them."

With that, he stood and waited for Zanovich. Being an ex-soldier, he would be able to handle everything physically thrown at him. However, Peter worried for his mental state, along with Apocalypse's. If this was going to be anything like his previous "field tests", these cyborgs would find out too many things they shouldn't, too fast for them to handle.

Mark had left the complex, to be never be heard by the goverment again. As he planned he'll probably go to the countrysides and stay there for the rest of his life with a large sum of money. But as he drove, it kept bothering him about Artermis. He just felt that they didnt complete building her in a way, but he just couldnt grasp what it was...

Meanwhile Artermis was now in the plane, in the safety of her heavy armor. She had a feeling she nevre felt before, whatever it was it was a mixture of happyness and being scared. Being human wasnt easy for something that started out as a machine.

"When are we moving out? Now." Peter said, showing Zanovich to the plane they would be using. ((Hope you don't mind if I move him for you, I would just really like to get this thing moving.)) Six Corps only owned one of these particular planes, and kept it reserved for urgent business. It had vertical thrusters and engines capable of cranking out Mach 1.5. Peter told the captain that they were ready and then buckled up.

"Our trip will only take a few hours. During that time, would you like a quick mission briefing?"

If it's a simple trek with no interruptions, it will take three days on foot. Knowing Six, however, there will be a few things thrown in to make the test a tad more... exciting."

With this, Peter leaned forward and adopted a more hushed tone. "That ends what will remain on the record. Apocalypse, could you hack the recording systems and ensure that before I go on?"

"All right. We are to find one of my friends I worked with, a Guram Osadze, in a small village a few days' march north of where we will be dropped off. The area we'll be going through is largely uninhabited, so civilian contact isn't a concern. However, that only frees up space for other 'obstacles'. Expect to see our private guard and war robots, maybe even Sin-grades. They'll be equipped with non-lethal weapons only, so there is room for failure. We stand a good chance at making it through: if the past is any indication, this will be the first and easiest of a series of tests. Tests that have only one objective in mind." Peter galnced up to the pilot's cabin, ensuring that the door was closed, before he continued.

"The Six Trillion Program, like two other programs before it, is not primarily about building a better surrogate limb for hapless car crash victims. That's a bonus. What we're... what Six is out to accomplish is the creation of the perfect war machine. The Sin-grade fighting robots are where we make our largest profit, after all. Robots, however, can't think creatively, or obscurely in any fashion. Six has expanded into cyborg soldiers."

Name: Eric Price
Gender and age: Male, 32 years old
Faction: U.N. Peacekeeper.
Appearance: 6'0". Black hair, green eyes, currently wearing a jungle camoflage combat uniform, with brown boots and black gloves.
Modified parts: He lost his right leg in battle, had it replaced with a cybernetic prosthetic.
Back story: Eric's story starts with the death of his brother, killed by a robot modified for war. This left a deep scar in his mind, and he chose to do what he could to stop the creation of all warfare robots.

----------------------------------------

Eric swatted another mosquito on his face, the seventh one today. He hated the jungle.

Four days ago, Eric's unit was sent into this bug-infested place on a lead that Six Corps. was going to test a new war cyborg in area. His orders were to observe the test, and if the "project" was determinded to be a threat to U.N. security, destroy it.

Someone from his unit shouted and pointed skyward, and Eric viewed the direction with his binoculars. He smiled, seeing the aircraft arriving at it's destination. They were ealier than expected, but that was no problem, he knew something like this could happen.

"Now we'll see what this 'Project Apocalypse' can do," he said to his men.

"If Six project was based around cyborgs and robotic implants and such, how is it that I'm a part of it? I do not have any combat routines or such installed in my database, all routines are all hacking related. In addition, I am not a living organism technically, when I searched the Six's databses, all others were human."

"You have no idea how useful your ability to gather information could be in war. Secret weapons, troop movements... lots of potential, I'm afraid. As for your placement in the program, mostly that's a result of your creator. Mark Stone is a technical genius. His prosthetics were always the most similar to organics. When Six was told to make a completely artificial organism, he was the first to be moved to that program. He was an A-plus student in engineering and biology, if a little unwilling to create what he had to." The plane had been slowing for a while now, and during his speech it had come to a complete stop, briefly hovering in place using its vertical thrusters.

Peter brought out three parachutes and indicated the emergency hatch. "After you, I insist."

With the Six Corps' aircraft arrivial, Colonel Price knew that it was time to begin the operation.

"Alright, men," he said, turning to face his unit, "Remember, this is primarily a recon mission. We are not to engage or make our presence known to 'Project Apocalypse' and it's escorts until we have determinded what it's military capabilities are. I don't want any screw-ups, is that understood?"

"Yes, sir!" the soldiers responded, ready as always.

"Good," Eric said with a sense of pride in his voice, "let's begin."

She didnt know the dangers of gravity and she really didnt need to care.
However the parachutes wouldnt be able to support a being twice the weight of an avereage human very well, after all she had lots of metallic components in her organs and cells.

((Just to clear things up, people outside the apocalypse production do not know what it actually is. All they know about it is that its either a computer or a weapon, presumably a destroyer droid. So they wouldnt be able to know who she is.))

Peter felt temted to make himself a headband, but he summoned up his composture. After double-checking his safety straps, he dived out of the plane.

Peace came at odd times. When one was about to strike a deal that would seal the fate of the company. When one sparred with a man who could punch off one's head.

When one's car is crushed between two eighteen-wheelers.

Peter couldn't wait and meditate on his life, however. Righting himself, he pulled the ripcord on his chute and immediately started to slow down.

Artermis pulled the cord and glided down, not making too much slow in her fall since her cells and such weighed much more than organism's and that she was wearing a heavy battle armor.

Well, this was different, Eric thought. He was told to assume that Project Apocalypse was a battle robot or a war cyborg, but the three that jumped off of the aircraft looked certifiably human.

His men were confused as well. "Sir," the H.W. unit asked, "They don't look like war droids,"

"I realize that, Major," Eric responded, "But we'll continue with our mission anyway. Six Corps. went to a lot of trouble to set this test up, and I want to find out why."

Peter landed, chuckling.

"Now that was a nice departure from the desk job. Now I guess I should track down the other two and get moving."

As he set off through the bush in search of his team, he didn't notice the thing hovering nearby. It looked like a localized patch of hot, wavy, air, but its movement suggested otherwise. "Yes, sir," the soldier responded, completing the task as he said so.

"We'll follow the older looking man for the time being," Eric said to the rest of his unit, all six of them, "He's clearly not the main target, but Six Corps. wouldn't send someone like him into the jungle without good reason, and I want to find out what.

"Alright, people, Formation Gamma. Let's move!"

As Peter searched for his team, he noted that leaves were blowing by his feet, even though it shouldn't be that windy in the forest. He looked behind him and saw that they blew away from the ground underneath the shimmering air. Ah, so Six sent some Greeds after us, he thought. Let them watch for now.

The now-cleared ground behind him revealed an unusually large footprint. There were snapped-off branches in the area as well. Either Apocalypse had gone through the area or Six had deployed something a little heavier than the scout drone following him. Either way, it was best simply to follow the trail.

Peter wiped the oil off his jacket and gazed down at the now-broken husk of the Greed at his feet. He had always thought that its armour was too light for a Sin-grade. Voices carried across the foliage, indicating that a conflict was about to take place. Peter ran towards them, his tattered right sleeve and glove left behind.

"Sir, it's not working," she finally said.

"I can see that, Major," he responded, and attempted to fire his own weapon, but to no affect. "Everyone, check your weapons!" Eric ordered as he pulled out and loaded his sidearm. Three days' march away, Guram Osadze watched the scene on his laptop, through the eyes of another Greed. He had assigned three of them, along with two Avions and a Lust, to patrol the landing zone.

It was logical that Six had chosen him to order the training robots around. Although he had never been the most physically able, he was a master tactician. Peter was beginning to regain feeling in his leg: the tranquilizers had obviously been designed for temporary disabilization only. He sprung back and hamstringed one of the soldiers who fled past. Grabbing his sidearm as he fell, Peter watched if any of the soldiers aimed for either himself or Zanovich. his modified arm had increased reflexes: he would not easily miss.

Meanwhile, Osadze was cursing at his computer screen. Apocalypse, while generally docile, was simply too adept at hacking his drones. No matter. "Dammit!" Eric shouted as he and his men dove for cover. He hadn't expected the Avions to fire on his group so soon. Finding cover under a tree, he began to asses the situation.

In about two minutes, a squadron of Dakota class helicopters would arrive and clean up this "Avion" mess, his unit just had to hold out until then. Whether that would happen still remained to be seen.

Then his eyes caught the glint of Chandler's prosthetic arm in the sun, holding a pistol. Damn, another problem to take care of. But at least the playing field was level, now. He thought about the possibility of simply gunning him down, with the element of surpise, but that director knew too much to warrent his death. The colonel would have to take him in alive.

Giving his right prosthetic leg one last rub, Eric lept at the man, intent on bringing him down.

Aretmis maintained fire on the agressors with two avions, whilst the other flew around the sky to give her an overall map of the area, also scanning for any other bots or intruders.
As doing so, she also began to search her database for the list of battle droids the organisations had, she looked at the sin grade droids first. She knew what they were made out of, but it was tricky taking over them. She'd have to infect one ai, then try and infect another as the other ais produced firewalls and anti viruses.
Or she could simply plant a corruption virus, but she had to make physical contact to impant viruses or programsinto other things.

Zanovich jumped for a pistol that had seemingly dropped of one soldier, diving to cover.

He picked it up and took the safety off, and stood up. And fired a few shots at the soldiers, the bullets hitting the trees around them. After a few more shots the clip was empty and Zanovich started to run towards a small hole, entering it and taking cover.

Peter hurriedly stuffed the pistol into his jacket and brought up his switchblade to meet Eric. "Back down, Colonel, we don't have to waste time and lives here!"

Noticing the switchblade, Eric grabbed the offending arm, and brought up his knee quickly, expecting to knock the wind out of the man. The doctor may have had a metal arm, but Eric had close-quarters training. Hopefully, it would be enough.

..............................

Greeson had been in tougher situations before, no doubt about that, but not many were as bat-shit crazy as this one. She knew what she was ordered to do, however, and she had never failed her commanding officer yet.

But she had lost Zanovich in the insanity of the Avion fire, and from her vantage point under the trees, she couldn't see him. That's when she spotted the girl in the heavy armor, the second target. Zanovich could wait.
.............................

The weight of the pistol felt slightly uncomfortable in his hands, but Carlson felt it was necessary. He may have been the computer geek in the unit, but that didn't mean he couldn't hold his own in a fight.

Seeing the Six Corps. director again was unexpected, though. He thought that he had but those memories behind him, but know they were flooding back. After what they did to... No, he needed to focus on the present. He wasn't going to get shot today.

The colonel may have been busy with the director, but he was going to find Zanovich, and make him p--no. He was going to complete his mission.

Zanovich lifted hes head a little and pointed the pistol at Carlson, and fired a shot. It hit the tree near him, dropping a small branch onto him.

"Maybe i should use my other hand..."
Said Zanovich to himself and threw the pistol to hes mechanical arm that was much more steady.

"Chandler ! Get a move on !"
Zanovich shouted and fired repeatedly at Carlson. Until the pistol clip notified that it was empty again.

Bingo on ammo...
Zanovich thought to himself and took cover again.

Chandler twisted so that Eric's knee caught him on the hip as oppsed to smashing into his gut. No matter. His left hand was every bit as powerful as his right...

Then the tree branch fell on them. In the confusion, there was no need to fight. Peter recovered his switchblade and ran off into the jungle.

Thruoghout all this, the Lust had managed to find Apocalypse. Guram had shut down all subroutines that transmitted or received wireless signals: anything hoping to hack it would have to make physical contact. That said, he couldn't monitor what it did. It raised its rifle, a good mark down from the .50 caliber original, and took aim at Apocalypse.

((My char isnt. Its just a bio-machine with a human form))
Artermis just lay there, thinking of a plan to trapping a sin grade droid if it came near. She saw a small flower on the grass, she moved slightly to pick it up.
Then suddenly there was a small clank on her shoulder pad, the sound of a dart bouncing off her armor. She immediately scanned the area and managed to find a droid, probably a singrade according to its frequency comm range and looks. It clearly had some projectile weapon, if she handt moved at that moment, the dart would have gone through the soft part of her armor and into her neck, paralysing her for the next 10 hours. But it managed to hit her fully metallic shoulder pad.
She got out a small pistol that she had picked up from the aircraft earlier and tried to shoot, but failed to hit her target or damage it

Rolling onto his side, and using his right leg to kick the tree branch off him, Eric began to chase off after Chandler, his Colt .45 out of it's holster again. He was not going to let his best lead to Project Apocalypse slip out of his hands.

....................................

She heard the shot fire, an amazing feat considering the comotion going on in the field. Instinctively taking cover behind a tree, Greeson peered around, attempting to discover the source of the sound.

But the girl she was watching brought out a weapon, and began to fire seemingly randomly into the jungle. She had poor form, however, and the sniper doubted that girl had managed to hit anything she wanted to.

Hoping that the girl's clip was empty, Greeson jumped out from behind her hiding place and aimed her weapon at her second target.

"Freeze!"

...................................

He shot me! Carlson thought, as he was sprawled on his back on the forest floor, That bastard actually shot me!

Thankfully, the Colonel was such a hardass that he made his unit outfit themselves with bullet-resistent vests, as well as laser-resistent plates. It was a bit heavy on long missons, but the anal-retentiveness of his commanding officer had saved his life. Again.

That was when the first missle struck an Avion.

Artermis turned around and saw the person withthe gun, aiming at her.
She quickly analysed the pistol the person was holding and came to a conclusion that it was practically harmless. Her heavy battle armor could block an smg round with ease, plus if she turned off her pain receptors she couldnt feel pain.
She slowly reached for the extra pistol clip in her belt and began to reload.

((Sorry, Knightmare, but I don't think I can accept your character. A bit too... well, it's too much of something. Feel free to make another one, though.))

Chandler drew his "borrowed" pistol, spun around, and steadied his aim at Eric.

"Colonel, go ahead and fight me. Either way you'll lose. You could die, and that's that. I die, and you lose your lead."

However as Artermis was reloading, the Lust took another shot at her.
This time it went for the soft armor by waist. The high powered dart pierced the soft armor easily, went into her flesh. Injecting some electricity neutrlisers and some tranquilents. They had to mix the two since if only one type was used, it wouldnt effect her fully.
As the dart pierced her, she felt a bit drowsy and noticed the dart bullet stuck in her waist.
She quickly took it out, but all the solution was injected into her blood stream.
A problem with humanoid based design, the blood streams could carry even harmful stuff everywhere.

She then fell over, unconcious.

Price was getting fed up with the whole damn situation. Nothing was going as it was meant to. He knew he was going to caught an ear-full from his commanding officer when he got back to base.

But first things first. He had a pain-in-the-ass Six Corps director pointing a glock at his face.

"Look, Doc, no one has to die today. All I we want is the location and specifics of Project Apocalypse. And to bring in your group for questioning. That's it." Eric negotiated, trying a new tactic.

................................................

When Greeson saw the girl fall, she realized that they weren't alone in this neck of the jungle. Whatever had fired didn't show up on her helmet's heat sensors, and that could mean only one thing. A cloaked robot.

That could mean serious trouble for her entire team, but she had a trump card. Unstraping it from her belt, and hoping that the 'bot was still in the area, she flung the EMP grenade from behind the tree.

.................................................

"Shit!" Carlson dove out of the way of the crashing Avion, landing mere feet from his current position. It was tough being the only one on in the unit without a prosthetic limb, it amazed him that he was able to get by without one for so long.

The Dakota copters had begun their deadly dance with the remaining Avion, but Carlson knew it was only a matter of time before it too was shot down. With the Six Corps. air support gone, this mission just might be a success after all.

Getting down to business, Carlson contacted command again, this time requesting a transport for extraction.

A strange flash danced through Peter's eyes. It was a mixture of hate, defiance and, just maybe, fear.

"No negotiations, soldier. I've come too far to be cut down now. I will carry through with the mission assigned me and, when I'm done, disappear. That is all."

He then shot at Price's leg. He aimed to disable, not to kill.

Chandler's bullet hit his intended target, imbedding itself into Eric's right leg. However, that leg was a prosthetic, the last relic of a long dead memory. Taking the chance, the colonel rushed at the doctor, successfully knocking his gun away, while also bringing up his own pistol below the man's chin.

"Alright, I've had just about enough of your shit today!" Eric said, the anger mounting in his voice, "Now, you can come quietly, or I can blow your fucking head off! How's that for a choice?"

A muffled beeping escaped from Peter's pocket, catching Eric's attention.

"What the hell is that?" he asked.

Greeson counted the seconds in her head since she threw the grenade, following her training to the letter. Decided that it was safe, she came out from behind the tree, ready to take down any potential threats.

But none came. The girl in the suit was still on the ground, clearly her armor's computer was shorted out in the blast, but checking farther on, she had found something else. A lust.

Hoping that there were no more "surprises", she activated her locater signal.

..................................

Carlson knew, that with the Avions shot down, he still had some business to take care of: Zanovich had to be found. But the man realized it would be much easier to find him from the air, not from the jungle floor.

So, with that in mind, he contacted on the Dakota's pilots, advised him on the situation, and asked for his assistance. It was granted, and all four of the helicopters began a wide spread search for the man.

Zanovich was not getting away.

Price backed away, giving the director room to manuever, knowing full well that this latest development might be a trap or distraction. Picking up the glock that was tossed in the recent struggle, Eric holstered it, and continued to point his current pistol at Chandler.

"Take it out, and hand it to me, slowly" Eric commanded the man, "If you press any buttons, or if the sound that thing is making changes, you'll be shot. Understand?"

With one last hoist, the transport crew managed to load Artermis' metal shell onto the hoverjet. Hopping on herself, Greeson sat down on one of the benches on either side of the craft and strapped herself in. Her left arm was still numb and unmoving, the circuitry must have not repaired itself yet, she reasoned.

Within a few minutes, Carlson, and other members of the unit, had also entered the hoverjet and strapped themselves down as well.

"It's been a crazy mission, huh?" he sighed.

"We've had worse," Greeson replied, and she recieved several concurring remarks from other members of the team. "Where's Zanovich?" she asked after a moment.

"Oh, the Dakotas going to find him, no problem. As soon as we pick up the Colonel, our mission is over." He rested his arms behind his head, and let loose another sigh.

Greeson didn't reply, her expression of one in deep thought.

However she was still knocked out, unmoving and seemed pretty much dead. The emp/tranq had a quite high dosage, but she'd be wake in an hour or less.
It depended whether the armor suit had enough energy left in it to pass on to her.

Chandler grudgingly brought out the remote device, and moved to hand it to Price. As he did so, he examined the simple display, showing Apocalypse's status. Currently in shutdown mode. Attempting to reboot. Damn. Chances are the entire team was under UN capture. Nothing to do now but bide his time. Thumbing a clandestine button that would make the remote seem nothing more than your average organizer, Chandler carefully offered it to Price.

"Take care of that thing, it's expensive."

Taking the device in his hands, the colonel began to fiddle with it, pressing a button here and there. By all appearances, it appeared to be an average PDA. Price slipped the device into one of his uniforms pockets, and brought out a small stunning weapon, aiming it at the director.

"I just want you to know that I'm not sorry," he said as he pulled the trigger, watching the other man crumple into a heap on the forest floor. Eric had enjoyed that.

After a few moments, the colonel's radio crackled. It was Carlson, alerting Price that Zanovich and whoever was in the armor have been captured. He continued by asking what Price's situation was, and Price explained that he had taken down the pain-in-the-ass doctor, and that they were ready for extraction. Carlson acknowledged and replied that they were coming to pick the two up, and ended the transmission.

.........................

After completing the... unorthodox mission, the U.N. Peacekeeping unit returned to the South American headquarters in Rio de Janerio. The three unconscious Six Corps. prisoners were placed in separate interrogation rooms. The rooms themselves appeared typical, with a table and two chairs, a single lightbulb fixture hanging from the ceiling, and a one-way mirror replacing one of the walls. However, in this digital age, the rooms were modified to block all incoming and outgoing signals, whether they be through the air, or from a hardline.

Also, once the prisoners woke up, they would find limitors on their prosthetic limbs, their strength dropped down to that of the average human. That would keep the prisoners from being too... rowdy while they were questioned.

Eric stood on the other side of the one-way mirrors, waiting for the Six Corps. prisoners to regain consciousness. He was going to get answers, one way or another.

((ok, sorry about capturing you guys, but I felt that it was time to get out of the jungle. Besides, I'm sure that you won't be held prisoner for very long.))

Eric watched the prisoners fidget for a while, before finally nodding to one the men in the examining room with him, the signal for the interrigation to begin.

Almost simultaneously, three people entered each prisioner's room. The woman who walked through Chandler's held herself with a professional demeanor, with a navy blue business suit, black flat heeled shoes, and her brown hair slicked back into a bun. She took the chair opposite to Chandler and placed a black suit case on the table. She made no effort to start a conversation, and instead chose to stare at the man.

The man who entered Zanovich's room, however, was much older, with graying temples and fine age lines running across his face. His business suit was entirely black. He too sat in the chair facing Zanovich, placed a black suitcase on the table, and said nothing.

When the door to Artemis' room opened, a thirty-something male walked in, his blond hair and black business suit all immaculate. Again, he took the only other chair in the room, again a suitcase was placed on the table, and again no words were spoken.

So, it was time to be questioned. Chandler wasn't prepared to tell the UN just anything about his assignment, so he was going to have to outwit this lady. Step one: get the interrogator off-centre.

Chandler met her stare and answered with one of his own. After a few minutes, he had only one thing to say: "You blinked."

The woman gave a sly, yet unnerving smile to Chandler, not taking the bait. She then opened the suitcase in front of her, pulling out a small portfolio, filled with many various papers.

"Your name is Dr. Peter Chandler, isn't it," she said, more of a statement than a question, after which she began to list off several personal facts about the man, from education to employment history to marital status, among other things.

As she finished with next of kin status, she added: "That is all correct, is it not?" Her face was unreadable.

....................................

The man looking back at Zanovich emitted a sense of calm, the sense one gets when they are in control of a situation and know it. The older man let the moment pass, until he took out a stack of papers from the black suitcase and pushed it over the table to the bound soldier, after which he cracked his knuckles.

The papers themselves detailed almost every noteworthy event in Zanovich's life, much the same way the woman spouted off to Chandler. The list was shorter than Chandler's, however, due to Zanovich's younger age.

..................................

Artermis' guest continued to look back the inhuman woman he shared the room with, finally deciding to take the direct approach.

"Hi, my name is Mr. Lavender, what's yours?" his voice was full of genuine cheerfulness.

...............................

Meanwhile, halfway across the globe, several men sat in a pitch dark room, the television sreen on the wall the only source of illumination. One stood in front of the others, his face hidden in shadow.

"Men, we have a problem," he addressed the others, "Project Apocalypse and its escort have been captured by a UN Peacekeeping force, and are being held here," he gestured at the wall-screen, which displayed Artermis' last known location, "Now, clearly, this cannot continue, lest the UN glean hard earned secrets from our project and people. This was a usual opening to an interrogation. Try to unnerve the subject by showing how much you know about them. And Peter had to admit, they knew a lot. From his years spent getting a PhD in Law to the car crash in which he lost both arms and his right leg soon after, to his employment at Six Corps after he got outfitted with his new limbs. They didn't know what he did there, though. To them, he was just another annoying lawyer.

"You seem to know a lot about me, madam. But this is about what you don't know, isn't it?"

A voice spoke up in that same boardroom: "Osadze's the answer. He's still in command of some dozens of our robots. He could find a way to create a distraction, or sneak them out somehow."

"That's crazy. They're in the middle of the city."

"Of course," the woman answered, "Why else would we go to all this effort? Now then, approximately one week ago, we recieved information that your company, Six Corps., was creating an operation to test a newly developed weapon in the amazon. Naturally, this piqued our interest, so we sent out a team of our own, to observe this test. But clearly, things didn't go as planned.

"But let me get to the point. We want to know exactly what Project Apocalypse is, what it does, it's current location, and how it can be stopped. And don't attempt to feign innocence, we know you know," she tossed a small device onto the table, the same device Chandler handed to Price back in the jungle. Current situation unknown, it's screen flashed, cannot locate project.

"Let's get one thing straight," the older man finally spoke up, "I don't give a damn about you or what you do. You can go to hell, for all I care. But the sooner you give us the information we require, the sooner we can all go home."

The man stood up, walking beside Zanovich's chair. "Where is Project Apocalypse?"

Mr. Lavender sat forward in his chair, elbows on the table, an expression of youthfull curiosity on his face.

"Artermis, huh? She was the Greek goddess of nature, wasn't she? Well, anyway, I think it's a neat sounding name. But you mentioned your father earlier, what was he like?"

.......................

"It's cyborg battle armour, it fights, I have no clue where you put it, and conventional explosions should work just fine." Chandler hoped this would be a sufficiently convincing lie, aided by his naturally sincere personality, but if they found him out he could just lead them in circles. They may have cracked terrorists who hid bombs in their shoes in here, but never a graduate of the Six Billion program.

The only thing that disturbed him, though, was the fact that he didn't know the answer to one of these questions. What was Apocalypse's purpose? Six Corps. had better things to do than piss away money on artificial life. Did this innocent girl-machine have some capability that he should know about? Chandler always hated being treated like the Board's lackey, but this bit of information that was kept from him may be incredibly important.

"You're telling a fib," she waved her finger at Chandler in a very mocking fashion, "The armor we found in the jungle is a basic Six Corps. model your company uses for hazardous situations and the like. Nothing special about it. The girl we found inside it, however, is a different matter completely."

The woman began to pace the room, eventually giving a sideways glance to Chandler. "She's not entirely human, is she?"

...........................

"That's quite a lot of words for 'I don't know'," the man sighed to Zanovich, cracking his neck back and forth, "How much are they paying you? You can't be earning more than a basic corporate merc's salary. Certainly doesn't leave much for the finer things in life." he paused, letting the words sink in a little, "Consider this. We can pay you three times whatever Six Corps. is offering for your services, and all we want is some information."

.........................

Mr. Lavender gave a warm smile, "My dad was much the same way. I bet your father hated it when you misplaced one of his precious 'tomes of information', as my dad always called them." he let loose a small chuckle. "But you haven't mentioned your mother much. What was she like?"

........................

As the interrogations moved on, Colonel Price was becoming increasingly irritated at the slow progress they were making. He was never much of a patient man, a fault he himself would attest to. Indeed, it took all of Eric's self-control to keep from bursting into a room, grabing a prisoner by the shirt cuffs, and demanding answers. But he didn't, partly because he knew it most likely wouldn't help the situation at all, and partly because he didn't want hear it from his superiors if he did.

Yet, a single thought still nagged in the back of his brain, clawing to the surface for attention. Why did it feel that it had been too easy? The Six Corps. group had put up little resistance, aside from the two avions that had to be shot down, and now they were sitting here playing 'hard-to-get' with much needed information, with no attempt by Six Corps. of a rescue. Perhaps it was too easy.

Or, perhaps, he was just being paranoid again.

Eric took another drink from the coffee cup he was holding, and stared out the one-way mirrors. What was so damned important?

Zanovich was silent for a few seconds, thinking about it, and finally he spoke.

"They are offering me nothing, they gave me my arm back, and for exchange, i work for them. I don't give a damn about your money."
Zanovich spat out.

"Your the friggin' UN, why don't you just get a damn permit and bust into the Six Corps laboratories. Besides, i don't know were Apocalypse is now, its somewhere still back there for all i know, im not giving you nothing because i can't give you anything !"
Zanovich said and rolled hes eyes.

The woman gave out another sly smile, this time taking a different file from the suitcase on the table.

"We gave each of you a basic medical examination, x-rays, blood tests, that sort of thing. Your friend, however, produced some very, shall we say, interesting results." She continued, spreading the papers across the table for Chandler to read, "By all acounts, she appears perfectly normal, with all the proper organs in all the proper places. But we both know that what appearences are, and what the truth is, are two different things. No, your friend is not human, but she is an excellent imation of one. In a sense, she's too perfect, as if every single cell in her body was expertly crafted. There is nothing wrong with here, and that's the problem."

She sat down again, elbows on the table, her eyes meeting his. "But I'm betting you already knew that, didn't you?" A knock at the door interrupted the tension, as the woman got up to answer it. She left the room for several minutes, and eventually she re-entered, with Colonel Price in tow. He took to leaning against a wall, leaving his sidearm clearly visible, as the woman regained her composure, clearly from having a very heated argument.

"Now, then," she said, "Where were we?"

......................

The older man chuckled as he stood up, clearly sore from having to sit so long.

"It's been a long time since I met someone in this world who paid their debts. And you know what, I believe you. Why would Six Corps. reveal important information to you?" he began to head towards the door, "If you remember anything useful, the guards are right outside." He then left, shutting off the room's lights from the outside.

....................

"Funny," Mr. Lavender answered, pulling a folder out of the suitcase, "because on this data sheet I have on your history, it doesn't say anything about your mother. Or your father, for that matter. In fact, we don't have any information on you. It's like you don't exsist." he leaned in, his cheery personality gone, "Now, tell me, how can this be?"

"Well, I dunno about that. Half my life I've been home and never went out. That'd probably explain why I dont have any passport records or anything."
Artermis shrugged. SHe could just merely connect to the national database from here, but after her data magically appearing, they;d be very suspicious. So she decided it was best to go with the flow.

Meanwhile in the UN base's medical bay a couple of doctors were examining Artermis' blood more carefully. Then suddenly..
"Oh dear lord..."
A doctor came rushing out of the bay and began sprinting to the interrogation rooms, looking for the colonel.

Well, that was that. They had discovered that Artemis was a masterfully crafted machine, and soon enough they'll undoubtably find that the board had Stone hide a zombification virus inside her or something equally ridiculous. Any hope Chandler had of breaking out alone was broken by Price's presence.

Luckily, that was the moment Osadze's strike team burst out of the ductwork.
((Man, that's almost too deus ex machina.))

Two Lusts, quickly followed by two Prides. The Prides were designed to be fast robots, but they carried heavy arms. On the arms of their slim, human-like frame there usually hung a pair of laser cannons, currently replaced by guns full of sleep darts, although their bayonets and shoulder-mounted rocket launchers remained intact. A Pride lunged for the UN employees, while its double, followed by the Lusts, cut Chandler free. The Pride was carrying a satchel, and almost beckoned Chandler's attention to it, but he was approaching Price and the woman. The tides had turned, and Peter intended to ride them as best he could. ((Hope everyone's okay with the turnaround.))

Zanovich heard a few gunshots from the main halls, and decided that it was the time to move. Zanovich started jumping the chair backwards towards a glass mirror, centimeter by centimeter he was finally there, now if he could just get the chair to fall just in the right angle. Zanovich started to do a swing like motion in the chair, shaking it to get it into the right angle, and finally he pushed one last time and the chair fell over onto the mirror, shattering it and spreading glass onto the floor, Zanovich tipped the chair over and attempted to take a piece with hes normal hand. And did it. With the piece of glass in hes palm he twisted it a little and started to cut trough the ropes, one by one.

"Finally damn it !"
Zanovich said to himself as the last rope went loose, freeing hes cyborcic arm from the electric restrainers. Now he had to find a firearm, virtually anything that had lethal force. Zanovich ran to the door and shouted something trough it.

"Guard ! I remembered something !"
Zanovich shouted and hid behind a corner. Seconds later the guard came in, with a small sidearm.

"Nighty night."
Zanovich whispered and turned around the corner and threw a punch at the guards hed, sending him into a unconscious state. Now Zanovich had just enough time to get out of the place, he opened the sidearm case and pulled out a small USP, with a full clip. Good.

Turning around he saw the door still open and ran out into the hallway, to try and find the others, and create a distraction, shutting down the power whould probably be enough, he just hoped that the UN soldiers didn't have NightVision with them. Suddenly the alarm burst into its familiar cry, hes escape had ben detected, apparently the guard in the room had come to and got to somekind of alarm panel near the cell. Zanovich didn't care, he just wanted to get the hell out of that place.

"So, is your husband still commuting to the moon each week?" Carlson asked Greeson, checking in their weapons into the armory.

"Yeah," she answered, handing the sidearm to the attendant "But at least it's only for a few days, and he said he was off all next week, so we're both looking forward to that."

That was when the alarm sounded. The two eyed each other for a moment, before rushing back to the armory, outfitting themselves with usual gear: Vests, assault rifles, grenades, and sidearms. Carlson also took a small field computer with him; in his experience, one would never know when a computer might be useful.

As the two raced down the hallway to the interrogation rooms, of which Carlson suggested, "If shit's gonna happen, it'll happen there," he ran straight into a very distressed looking doctor. Before either man could fully catch their bearings, Greeson shoved them both around a corner. She then took cover at the edge, hissing "Prides!" and opening fire at them as she did so.

Things had officially gone from bad to the worst possible scenario imaginable. From the desperate look in the woman’s eyes, Eric assumed that she had never found herself at gunpoint before. Understandable, being that she was used to controlling the situation, not the situation controlling her.

“That will be rather difficult,” he responded to the Six Corps. director, “All the interrogation rooms in the building went on lockdown mode the second the alarm was triggered. Except for this one, of course,” he indicated to the blown open door, “Now, it just so happens that I have the necessary clearance to open the rooms. Just put her down, and I’ll do whatever you want.”

………………………

Greeson put up a good fight, but she quickly found herself pinned down by the Prides. She was outnumbered and outclassed, damn computerized targeting systems and all. She hugged the corner, and checked the status of her rifle.

Carlson, however, had plans of his own. A quick scan of the Prides revealed that they were receiving signals from an outside source, which probably wouldn’t be prepared for a counter-attack from it’s own signal. Piggybacking on the frequency the Prides were using led Carlson to the A.I. coordinating the attack. Fortunately, his intrusion had yet to be noticed.

“Need some help?” he asked Greeson.

“Unless you can take down war droids with enthusiasm, no,” she answered back, “Why? What do you have planned?”

Carlson smiled, the ball now in his court. “I might be able to screw up the Prides internal AI. It won’t give us much time, only a few seconds, but you should be able to make it count. Just wait for the signal.”

“What’s the signal?” she questioned as she readied her rifle, “Wait, let me guess, I’ll know it when I see it.”

“You know me so well.”

“The situation in the building has reached optimum levels. Commence the operation,” the electronically disguised voice spoke from the speakerphone on the table. Six figures stood around it, all clad in black riot gear, their faces hidden by the visors on their helmets. Within seconds, the entire group had rushed across the street to the chaos that was the UN Headquarters, blowing open a door to gain entrance. Several UN employees were on the other side; they did not last long.

Being careful to avoid the conflict between the Prides and the UN Peacekeepers, the unit ran to an interrogation room, this one containing Project Apocalypse. The team knew of the project’s abilities from observing the test in the jungle, and their weaponry and communication system were properly shielded. Unit 1 nodded to Unit 6, and watched as the other attached a small explosive to the lock on the door. Two figures were found inside after the door was blown open, one the team knew to be Project Apocalypse, and the other a very surprised looking man. He was silenced to avoid complications. Unit 1 nodded again, this time to Unit 2, who readied a tranc gun in the humanoid machine’s direction.

………………

Eric shook his head as he stood up, leaning against the wall. There would be no use arguing with the man, that could only lead to people getting shot.

“Sir, calm down!”

Eric recognized that voice, how could he not? It had potential to be the one stroke of luck he would have all day. “Major, is that you?”

Greeson emerged from around the corner, her assault rifle trained on the many people and robots in front of her. “Seriously, sir, if you continue yelling like that, you’re going to throw out your voice.”

“It’s nice to know you care,” he sighed, the calm returning.

"Sir, if you don't mind my asking, what's going on here?" she gestured to Chandler and the hostage he had.

"Oh, this nice gentleman here suggested that we all go see some of his friends that came here with him, and he's threatened to shoot his interrogator if we don't cooperate."

"I see," her eyes met Chandler's, "You do realize that unless you power down the Prides, and throw down all your weapons, you will never make it out alive?"

................

All had gone as planned. The project would soon be in their custody, and no one in the building would notice their presence. No one alive, that is. That’s what they thought; until a UN Peacekeeper ordered them so drop their weapons. He was quickly shot, but the damage was done, for in the smallest of seconds, Unit 2’s attention was focused on the peacekeeper, and not on the project in front.

"Greeson!" Carlson shouted, horrified as he watched his teammate fall. Screw plans, he thought, this happens now. With a single button press on the tablet PC he carried with him, the Prides and Lusts the Six Corps. bastards had with them began to go haywire, their guidence software and audio/visual sensors disrupted. It would only last a minute at the most, but, hopefully, it would be enough.

Taking up the assault rifle he left on the ground, Carlson began using a suppressing fire tatic while rushing to Greeson's side, dragging her unconscious body back around the corner. He had no real target in mind, he just wanted to get Greeson to safety.

........................

Eric, on the other hand, knew exactly what his target was. Thankfully taking advantage of the distraction Carlson provided, he swung his leg back, knocking the man off-balance enough for the woman he held to run.

Price used the momentum from the kick to pivot on his other foot, turning to face Chandler, the combat knife from his belt in his hands. The Units quickly regrouped after the project's escape. Unit 2 continued to fire darts at the project, but to no avail. It was simply too fast, blocking every shot with the table it held.

There was another problem as well. The project appeared to be heading directly to the center of the battle between the UN Peacekeepers and the Six Corps. rescue team. No matter, they were prepared for this eventuality, "Leave no witnesses," their commanding officer ordered them.

The com symbol lit up in Unit 1's helmet, indicating an incoming transmission. "We have a problem," said Unit 7, the sniper who would be covering their exit, "Guram and an accomplice are here."

"They are inside the building?" Unit 1 assumed, otherwise they would be dead.

Indeed, Guram was working on it. Racing through the halls, he was following the transmission from Chandler's ear bud. It was becoming difficult to keep track of the project, it moved so fast. Even the Units with leg enhancements were having trouble keeping up. Finally, the team managed to catch the project in a dead end, only to realize that it had taken to the ventilation system to escape.

Sending Unit 2 and two others to cut off the project’s escape on the upper floors, Unit 1 proceeded with the remainder of the team to plant charges on the structural supports of the building. It would assure that all evidence of their “visit” would be destroyed, and Six Corps. attempted rescue would explain any dead bodies discovered in the rubble. There was a small snag to the plan, however. A support strut for the building was placed almost dead center in the conflict between Six Corps. and the UN Peacekeepers. Unit 1 had suspected that it would eventually come to this; at least he would be able to see his old “buddy” Chandler again. Nodding to the other Units, they moved out, weapons at the ready.

Zanovich saw the auto-pistol land near him, and dashed for it, he took hes in hes hands and stood back up to face the wall. He tried to peek around the corner but a near ricochet flew some concrete dust into hes eyes and he pulled back.

At the left, there was a small passageway without guards, and a glass door at the end, if Zanovich was lucky and fast enough, he whould make it. He was going to run. It was a calculated risk, alltough the passage way apparently lead to a upper floor, but it was without guards, since many of them had come and joined the fight. There was a glass plated floor upstairs, that provided a view to downstairs, if he could get up there, he could succesfully return fire at the guards.

Zanovich took off, running at the passage way, tackling a UN security guard on the way, but Zanovich'es running was more like shambling along.

Artermis accessed sets of metal ladders and began to climb them rapidly. All she could think of now was escaping. She hacked even more into the UN system in order to set out a clear path for her, even by means of locking down all other paths.

Chandler caught Price's flying foot, if not without difficulty, and sent him spinning to the floor with a quick twist. Not a strictly legal move in the world of martial arts, but Peter and Guram had never been trained to be honourable, only to win. ((If you take issue with that, adcon, feel free to speak up. I just want to get everyone out of this building and moving somewhere else.))

Price would only stay on the floor for so long. Pocketing the remaining earbuds from the Pride's satchel and drawing both machine pistols, Chandler sprinted after Zanovich. Nice to see he's a good solo player, but the group really has to stay together. There's no telling what could happen otherwise.

Zanovich had run back down the stairs to the corridor because the door itself was locked. But were was Apocalypse, and were was everybody else.

"The doors locked !"
Zanovich shouted as he saw Chandler sprinting towards him.

"And im out of ideas, if the UN people get to the security lockdown switches we can't get out. Luckily this guy has the pass."
Zanovich said and pointed at a unconscious UN guard with a very distinct mark of a punch in hes chin, a little blood coming out of the nose also. He knealed down and took a small passcard off the guy.

"But if i know the UN they have a alternate passcard somewhere."
Zanovich sighed deeply.

Well, that was unexpected, Price thought as he pulled himself up. Clearly, Chandler was no ordinary lawyer.

It didn’t matter that Chandler had ran, the direction he took led to the parking garage, and those doors were locked and heavily fortified. He and Zanovich were trapped in a dead end. Giving a quick check of Greeson’s position, (She was fine, only knocked unconscious.) and grabbing Greeson’s assault rifle, Price chased after the Six Corps. employees. As he rounded the corner to where Chandler and Zanovich where stuck, Eric could hear other, unrecognizable voices. They were not alone.

Giving one last check to the rifle he held, Price leapt out from behind the edge, training his weapon on the director and soldier, noticing the newcomer off to the side.

“Freeze! Drop your weapons, and kick them over to me, or I will fire!” Price commanded.

“That doesn’t sound like a bad idea,” Eric heard said from behind him, as he felt the press of cold metal against the back of his neck.

……………………………

“It’s been a long time, hasn’t it?” Unit 1 spoke, gesturing to the UN Peacekeeper to drop his rifle, after which Unit 1 shoved the man to the other men from Six Corps. Units 3 and 4 had their weapons aimed at the group, ready to blow away anyone who attempted to escape. “Do as he said,” Unit 1 told the group, “I have no qualms about killing you all, especially you, Chandler.”

Not bothering to knock on the door, Mr. Watson walked right Mark’s office, slamming a memo on the desk. “Why is it that there are no records of Project Apocalypse any ware in our database? “There,” the man said, “Maybe you’ll answer me now.”

…………………

How clueless are these people? Eric thought. It appeared that the entire group forgot about him, all because a girl fell through a ventilation shaft. Well, Price was never one to pass up a golden opportunity, and he took it, by grabbing a fallen weapon from one of people in riot gear, and trained it on Chandler.

“Alright, for the last time, you are all under arrest. Drop your weapons, and kick them to me. I swear, I’m not saying it again. Remember, I am authorized to use lethal force, and at this point, I’m more than willing.”

…………………

How could it be that the best Rivertech had to offer were beaten by the Project falling through the ceiling? It was pathetic. But Unit 1 had to regroup; he couldn’t take them all on his own. Anyone would have thought that he was talking to Eric at first glance, but that was not the case. "I'll say it again, drop your weapons and put your hands up, you're all under arrest and will be taken to Rivertech HeadQuarters as prisoners." “Excuse me, but they are under my freakin’ arrest!” Eric shouted at the newcomer holding Zanovich down, afraid to re-direct his weapon in case Chandler and his buddy tried something stupid. “And since when did Rivertech get involved in this? God, who isn’t after you people?” that statement was directed at the Six Corps. director.

“They’re after just one person, sir,” a voice answered from behind. Greeson and Carlson walked into the situation from around the corner, taking up a suppressing position around the Colonel. “One of our scientists filled us in,” Carlson continued, “Whoever that woman is, she’s not a clone. Each one of her cells is a mini-supercomputer, light-years beyond anything we can produce today. Whatever she is, I’m betting she’s Project Apocalypse.”

“What?” Price exclaimed, his expression a combination of confusion and anger, “You mean we had the damn Project this entire time and we didn’t know it?” he walked over to Chandler, pointing the barrel of the rifle straight at his face, “Is any of this true? Is it?”

………………..

Mr. Watson sighed, “That is what we suspected. You have once again grossly misappropriated company resources, and this time you saw fit to destroyed classified information. It has come to the Board’s decision that, after Project Apocalypse is safely returned and back in her cell, you will be removed from the project. But don’t worry, we’ll still be keeping your contract, and I hear there is a nice position in Antarctica, at an unmanned research station.”

The man bent down and plugged the phone back in, “I suggest you get it back, and undo the damage you have already down.” He turned and headed for the door, saying, “Oh, and you can direct all questions to myself, or one of my assistants,” as he left.

At the same time, Watson's cell rang. On the other end of the line was a voice that was calm, almost soothing, but those who knew it knew to be nervous of it. The CEO, Roland Darius. Watson gulped loudly, beads of sweat starting to appear on his palms. Darius never directly called his cell phone when things were going well, and Watson made sure that Darius never had to call him.

“I-I apologize, sir,” Watson could never stop stuttering when he spoke with the CEO, “I just assumed that Marks actions were constituting a threat to the company, and I thought I could scare him in line. It won’t happen again, sir.” Damn right it won’t happen again, Watson thought, Rivertech’s going to make sure of that.

…………..

“Who are you talking to?” Price said, hearing Chandler speak. Was it possible that the director was in contact with someone the entire time? He dismissed the thought; it could be dealt with later. “Never mind, just hand over the girl.”

…………..

Unit 1, now with the remainder of his team, crept slowly on the group standing in garage doorway. This was perhaps his last chance at obtaining the Project, and he wasn’t about to screw it up. But the man did have other vendettas to deal with, and this was as good a time as any.

So, by killing two birds with one stone, Unit 1 aimed at Chandler, and fired.

Staring down at Chandler’s broken body, Eric came to what he would regard as one of the poorest decisions he would ever make.

He decided to help Chandler.

He grabbed the man’s fallen form and pulled him to relative safety, ordering Carlson to give them cover. Unfortunately, Price had no real experience with field medicine, and he didn’t have the necessary materials even if he had the knowledge. He turned to the other man who had dropped down beside Chandler; clearly they had some history.

“Look,” he shouted over the firefight, “It’s not safe here anymore! Out in the garage there are a few APC’s that we can use to get the hell outta here, but we can’t get to them unless we can take out the riot guard out there. So I’m gonna need your help. Think you can trust me?”

…………….

Greeson dove for her rifle, the colonel had “borrowed” it earlier, and came up from a roll, battle-ready as ever. She noticed that Rivertech idiot had dropped Zanovich, which left him free to be taken down. She ran up to the man and crouched down, swinging her leg out in order to trip him.

"I'd like to see you unholster your weapon before I'd killed you five times, but now's not the time for ego-patting." Turning to the newcomer, Guram only had one question, "I've disarmed, now what do you want?"

((Sorry for taking so long to post.))

What the hell is that guy doing? Eric thought, as he peeked over the car he was hiding behind, idiot’s gonna get himself killed.

Apparently, Rivertech had taken to shooting their own men. Not that it helped his situation any. Carlson and Greeson were pinned down by the riot guard, Zanovich was still on the floor, Chandler was possibly bleeding to death, and the girl, who may or may not be Project Apocalypse, was just standing around. If anything were going to change, Price would have to cause it. Problem was, he had no idea what to do.

………………..

“Unit 5, stand down!” Unit 1 shouted at the woman pointing the gun in Will’s face, “I am giving you a direct order! Stand down!” He walked over and forcibly lowered her pistol. Unit 5’s trigger finger was especially itchy, sometimes causing her to be more trouble than she was worth.

Unit 1 turned to William, his rifle trained on his head. “You say you’re Rivertech? Then what’s your Identification Code?”

…………………

Price needed to get Guram’s attention somehow, to coordinate a counter-attack. If they could take advantage of the distraction the man leaning against the wall was causing, they might be able to escape. But that wouldn’t work unless the man saw him behind the car.
