Basically epic released all the Unreal Engine 3 development tools to use in non-commercial projects (for windows). The feature list seems quite extensive and includes things like artificial intelligence, physics, facial animation and much more. Last edited by hamsterman : 11-06-2009 at 04:16 AM. |

I've been using the commercial UDK for a while now, and I feel I should warn you of a few things
Get ready to relearn everything, its the least intuitive system ever jesus christ. All the functions you would expect to be there ARE there, just hidden in odd corners. You need 2 monitors. Seriously the general prop/actor/matinée browser will take up a monitor by itself easily Save often. Unless you have an absolute beast of a machine and you get really really lucky, this thing will crash LOTS. Don't forget to bundle all your custom resources into a package and don't forget to load that package when you start the editor up. You'll save yourself a lot of headaches trying to relocate and replace things you forgot to load in this way.
